What is a Meal Plan?

A Meal Plan unlocks delicious meals, coffee, snacks, and more, at 13 locations across campus. Your Meal Plan includes Meal Swipes and Flex, conveniently loaded onto your SRU One Card. No need to carry additional cards or cash!

How do Meal Plans Work?

Meal plans include two components: meal swipes and flex funds.

  • Meal swipes are used to access the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall or to exchange for a designated meal combo or meal credit at select retail locations.
  • Flex funds are used like a gift card to purchase items ala carte at any food service location. Flex can be used to pay at the door of the dining hall if you don't have meal swipes. Meal plans offer meal swipes in either a weekly amount or a semester block.
  • For a weekly plan, the count of meals resets every Monday morning. There are no refunds or credits for unused meals in a week.
  • For a block plan, it is up to the student to budget the number of meals over the entire semester. All meals expire at the end of the semester.
  • All meal plans limit the number of meal swipes used in a day to 5.
  • There is a 10-minute waiting period between meal swipe uses.
  • Students living on campus will be assigned to the 14 meals per week plan with $350 in flex funds. Students can change their meal plan through the second week of class each semester. Leftover flex funds will roll over from fall to spring, but all flex expires at the end of spring semester. Just like a gift card, once flex is purchased, there is no refund.
  • Cash Equivalency allows you to use your meal swipes at retail dining locations including: Burgers + Fries, Butter & Honey, Ignition Pizza, Ignition Pasta, Greens to Go, Limon and Chile, the Spread and Starbucks WPS in the library. Cash Equivalency is not available at Starbucks or Quaker Steak & Lube in the Student Center or Wild Blue in Weisenfluh. Certain retail items, which are clearly marked in the dining locations, are not eligible for cash equivalency. The current exchange rate is $6.40 per meal.
